In August 2012, four trainee detectives from Chile's investigative police identified the man this wall has honored since the 1930s: Romualdo Ivani Zambelli, a mechanic stabbed in the heart during a robbery at this corner on August 8, 1933. Some of his devotees had prayed to him as a murdered child. Hundreds of plaques thank him for favors, and they spell his name many different ways.

Nearly a thousand carved figures raised on stone platforms across Rapa Nui between about 1250 and 1600. The story that the islanders wrecked their own society competing to build them was contradicted by genome sequencing in 2024.

A German lay preacher ran a sealed colony behind an electrified fence in rural Chile for four decades, with an airstrip, an arms cache, and a free hospital for local people. Underneath it was a torture site used by the secret police. About 122 people still live there and it now serves lunch.
