Methodology
Sources, evidence, and the limits of the strange.
We add citations wherever reliable sources are available and clearly separate documented facts from reported claims.
What counts as a source
- Local newspaper archives and reputable investigative journalism
- Peer-reviewed research where available
- Folklore archives, museum records, and academic studies of legend
- Official reports (police, military, government) where they exist
- Primary witness accounts, clearly labeled as such
What we won't do
- Fabricate witness quotes or events
- Present folklore as documented fact
- Hide skeptical explanations when they exist
- Treat suffering or tragedy as entertainment
Credibility labels
Sources are tagged: primary, secondary, press, or folklore. Folklore is fascinating; it just isn't evidence.
