Hotel De Bilderberg
In May 1954, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands and adviser Józef Retinger gathered about 50 officials, business leaders, and academics from 11 European countries and the United States at this hotel for an off-the-record conference. The annual Bilderberg Meetings kept the hotel's name and publish attendee lists and topic outlines, but no minutes.

The Ommeren Treasure
A German soldier said four boxes of valuables from a bank in Arnhem were buried outside the village of Ommeren. Dutch investigators searched the site four times in 1947 and found nothing. After the Dutch National Archive published the hand-drawn map he handed over, people with metal detectors went into the fields and did no better.
