Bada Valley Megaliths
Scattered across a remote Sulawesi highland valley, more than 400 carved stone figures, some over four meters tall, were made by a culture that left no name, no writing, and no agreed-upon date behind.

Gunung Padang
A hill in West Java is terraced and covered in columns of volcanic rock, and a 2023 paper argued the structure inside it was begun 25,000 years ago, which would make it the oldest built thing on earth. The journal retracted the paper in March 2024 because the radiocarbon dates came from soil with nothing man-made in it. All of the authors disagreed with the retraction, and the digging and the argument both continue.

A short, upright, ground-living ape reported from the forests of west Sumatra for more than a century. The conservationist who spent fifteen years looking for it says she has seen it three times and has never photographed it.
