Casa Museo Salto del Tequendama
The mansion on the cliff was built in the 1920s as a hotel for people who came to look at the falls. It closed when the river that makes the falls became the drain for Bogotá, stood empty for decades, and acquired the reputation that keeps its photograph circulating. A foundation restored it and reopened it in 2013 as a museum about the river and the forest.

Laguna de Guatavita
El Dorado was a man, not a city. The Muisca covered a new ruler in gold dust and floated him out onto this lake to throw offerings into it. In the 1580s, a merchant cut a notch into the crater rim to drain it, and the notch is still there.
